Detektívka-Sunshine
It was a foggy night. In the dark narrow street there was a hustling cat in a rubbish bin. The young afraid woman was running and crying. Someone was hunting her.
Mrs. Grey was reading the newspaper. There was a feature about murder. Unknown woman was killed last night in the city.
Somebody knocked at the door and Mrs. Grey opened it. There was a policeman and a man in long coat. His name was detective Morris and he wanted to speak with Miss Potter. Mrs. Grey wanted to know what’s going on but he said it was a secret for that moment. Mrs. Grey and two new guests went to the living-room. She went to wake Miss Potter up.
Detective and policeman sat down. Miss Potter and her servant came quickly. Miss Potter was attractive young well-built woman with long curly red hair. She was looking tired and proud. She looked at the men. Detective and his partner said their names and the reason of their visit.
They told her about murder which happened last night. Detective had photo of death woman. Mrs. Grey paled. That death woman was a sister of Miss Potter Emily. Emily and Anne Potter were twins. Anne Potter was absolutely silent. She just asked who did it. But it was a big mystery.
Detective Morris asked her about her sister and if Emily had any enemies. She said no, Emily was very friendly. Mrs. Grey went to the kitchen. Anne Potter was talking about their happy childhood, common friends and sister’s hobbies. She looked tired of this enquiry. She just said that her sister used to be in a bad place in a bad time sometimes.
Next they wanted to speak with Mrs.Grey. Elderly grey-haired widow was sad and crying. She spoke about Emily. She knew her since her three years when she arrived to the valley. Emily’s father gave her a job. Mrs. Grey said that her son and Emily Potter were really good friends for a long time but they had some problems. This relationship found detective very interesting. He wanted to speak also with him.
Mrs. Gray’s son worked in Potter’s mansion as a gardener and repairman. He was tall dark-haired boy with blue eyes. He didn’t want to talk about him and Emily. It was suspicious. He said only that Emily and her sister didn’t have so great relationship like Anne said. Detective Morris wavered. He didn’t know who was telling the truth and who was not. He was drinking coffee and thinking when someone knocked.
Mrs.Grey opened. To living room came middle-aged man with beard. He looked like a lawyer or something. His name was Mr. Jones and he was doctor in hospital. Detective Morris felt uncomfortable when he was near to him. Doctor wanted to support Miss Potter in this hard situation. Detective’s instinct was strong. He asked his about Emily and him. He was very unhappy but answered that Emily was his spouse but yesterday she phoned him because she wanted to release their wedding. It was the last time when he heard her. Detective wanted to know why she did it but he only grinned and said she maybe had someone else.
Detective and his partner were unsure. In site they found only one red rose, hankie with monogram AP and bloody sword with no finger-paint. Who really did it?
